This course aims to facilitate the training of port facility security officers in accordance with the minimum knowledge understanding and proficiencies (KUPs) in the Guidelines on training and certification for port facility security officers (MSC.1/Circ.1188) to meet the duties and responsibilities required by the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code part A.

This course provides training in the operational use of integrated bridge systems (IBS) and integrated navigational systems (INS). Designed for officers in charge of a navigational watch the course enhances safety and environmental protection by instructing on the correct use of these systems and highlighting potential risks from improper use. Flexible in design it can be adapted to trainees’ experience levels ensuring comprehensive understanding. This course is a key resource for improving navigation safety standards and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations.

This course is intended to provide an introduction to the administration and management of a maritime Search and rescue (SAR) service to assist States in meeting their own SAR needs and the obligations they accepted under the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue 1979 and its amendments together with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 and its amendments.

This course covers training in the mandatory minimum requirements for the issue of certificates of proficiency in survival craft as specified in section A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code.

This course provides mandatory minimum training in fire prevention and fire fighting and is based on the provisions of table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code.

This model course is intended to provide the knowledge required to enable personnel without designated security duties in connection with a Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP) to enhance security in accordance with the requirements of Chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended the ISPS Code the IMDG Code the IMO/ILO Code of Practice on Security in Ports and guidance contained in IMO MSC.1/Circ.1341. Successful trainees should contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness and the ability to recognize security threats and respond appropriately.

This model course is intended to provide the knowledge required for seafarers with designated security duties in connection with a Ship Security Plan (SSP) to perform their duties in accordance with the requirements of chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended the ISPS Code and section A-VI/6 of the STCW Code as amended.

The overall aim of this model course is to meet the mandatory minimum standard of competence for seafarers for the following competence: Maintain a safe engineering watch in particular engine-room resource management in column 2 table A-III/1 of the STCW Code under the function marine engineering at the operational level. This course is theoretical and practical including simulator exercises taking into account table A-III/1 and the relevant parts of section A-VIII/2 of the STCW Code.
